Dermaplaning is one of the most effective facial exfoliating treatments available to patients. It is a process that has been used in conjunction with medical skin care for nearly the past two decades. Dermaplaning helps reveal radiant, healthier skin. Once the procedure is completed, you will leave with your skin glowing, without any redness or irritation. Of all facial treatments, none of them leave the facial skin feeling as clear or as soft as Dermaplaning!
What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a quick, noninvasive, painless procedure in which surface dead skin cells are manually scraped away. Dermaplaning requires absolutely no recovery time. It increases cellular turnover, smooths and softens skin, and provides immediate results. This procedure is a very effective exfoliating procedure because it basically tricks the body into thinking it has an injury and needs to heal itself, immediately producing healthier, plump skin cells. Dermaplaning can be used on all skin colors. As an extra bonus, Dermaplaning removes the fine vellus hair on the face. This is important because this excess “peach fuzz” can trap oil and dirt which can lead to other problems with your skin. It also cause facial cleansers to be less effective. Once you scrap away the dirt, oil and dead skin cells, facial products and treatments are much more effective because they can penetrate the skin more easily.
How is dermaplaning performed?
After cleansing, toning and degreasing the face, your skin care specialist will gently scrape away the surface layer of dirt, oil and dead skin cells with a sterile surgical scalpel. Each area of the face is carefully scraped until properly “cleaned”. After the procedure, a chemical peel may be applied for further exfoliation, evening of skin tone and smoothing out the appearance fine lines and wrinkles. Extractions of any pustules and blackheads are then done after the peel is neutralized. Lastly, special clinical products designed especially for your skin type and concerns, as well as UV protection, will be applied. You will not leave with red or irritated skin, and you are free to reapply makeup at any time.
Does Dermaplaning help with acne scars?
Yes! Almost every person experiences some type of acne problem at some time in their life. Without proper treatment and skin care, some acne can scar the skin. In these cases we recommend patients consider dermaplaning as an effective method to treat acne scaring. In order to reduce the occurrence of acne breakouts and prevent future scarring, it is important to understand the causes of acne.
An acne problem occurs when overactive sebaceous glands produce too much oil and plug follicles in the skin. There is some confusion, however, about what causes this to happen more with some people and not as much with others. Effective acne treatment and prevention of acne scar formation depends upon a clear understanding of the real causes of acne.
Will my hair grow back dark, thicker or faster?
No, dermaplaning will not cause the vellus hair on your face to grow back any darker, thicker or faster because the procedure does not trigger hair follicles. The hair will return just as it is, usually in about two to four weeks.
How much does dermaplaning cost?
Single treatments are $150.00 for each treatment, or when you purchase a package of five (5) Dermaplane treatments you receive one treatment free (total $600).
Who is the best candidate for dermaplaning?
Anyone who desires smoother, softer, healthier, more radiant skin. However, patients with active acne are not candidates for Dermaplaning.
How long does the procedure take?
Dermaplaning is a quick, effective procedure that normally takes 45 minutes to complete. It is recommended that patients space treatments approximately two to four weeks apart for the best results.
Do the Dermaplaning treatments need to be paid for up front or do you offer a payment plan?
Yes, the treatments have to be paid for at the time of treatment. Packages have to be paid for in full at the first visit.
Will my insurance cover my dermaplaning?
No, we do not accept insurance for dermaplaning or any of our cosmetic procedures.
