Microdermabrasion is a commonly used method for removing skin discolorations, small scars (such as acne scars) and fine wrinkles. This is accomplished via exfoliation, where the outermost layer of the skin is gently worn away using an abrasive. Here at the G Spa International, we use the DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing system, which exfoliates the skin using natural diamond chips bonded to the tip of the wand, while vacuuming the exfoliated skin cells away in a controlled manner.
Removing this dead skin, also known as skin resurfacing, stimulates the vascular circulation to the surface of the skin resulting in a healthier and firmer appearance. The DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing treatment is non-invasive, pain-free and requires no down time. To achieve maximum results, several treatments are recommended for a healthier, younger looking skin. Removing the dead skin will also aid in the penetration of skin care products by up to 50% and make-up will go on much more smoothly.
A chemical peel is another method of skin resurfacing, and is similar to microdermabrasion except the abrasive used to remove dead skin is a chemical solution. This skin care option offers different levels of strength: superficial, medium and deep. With the superficial chemical peel, only the outermost top layer of skin is exfoliated. This peel is ideal for those who are just looking to rejuvenate their skin and have few to no scars and wrinkles. If you have mild scars caused by acne or an accident, then a mild chemical peel may be ideal. Deeper scars like pock marks and wrinkles can be eliminated with deep chemical peels.
