This is truly one of my favorite types of exfoliation. Overall, I think that DermaPlaning the skin is a great way to treat 2 skin conditions; dull skin and a fuzzy face! Don’t be afraid that the hair will grow in thicker. It won’t!

DermaPlaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the epidemis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). Using a scalpel and a delicate touch, the esthetician simply abrades the surface of the skin using light feathering strokes. DermaPlaning removes the outer most layers of dead skin cells leaving the skin immediately smooth, supple and vibrant. DermaPlaning is another non invasive method of skin rejuvenation.
This is a great treatment for patients who are pregnant or nursing who want a deep exfoliation, but are not allowed to use peeling agents on their skin. It is also a first choice for patients who have excess vellus hair on the skin. This hair often causes a build up of dirt and oils in the follicles, so removing the hair gives the patients healthier looking skin.
DermaPlaning is most often used on patients with rough, dry skin, superficial hyperpigmentation, mild acne scarring or fine lines and wrinkles.
No. It is physiologically impossible for your vellus hairs to grow back thicker. True, once the hair is cut, it has a blunt edge. But, this blunt edge does not mean that the hair structure itself has been physiologically altered.
Vellus hair when cut or removed will grow back the same. The structure of the hair does not become damaged, therefore it is impossible to alter.
Blading the skin is performed on the face only. Men are also candidates for this treatment; due to the nature of course hair growing in the beard area, men can only be treated on the upper cheeks, around the eyes and forehead.
Blading can be performed every 3-4 weeks. Blading the skin actually removes about 2-3 weeks worth of dead skin cells. We want the skin to complete its normal skin cycle of approximately 30 days.
Absolutely. We recommend using the Skin Ceuticals Gel Peel which is 20% Glycolic and 10% Lactic and a Vitamin C firming masque.
– Your skin will be free of unwanted fine hair.
– Reduction of fine lines.
– Glowing skin tone.
Not at all. In fact, many clients report feeling relaxed and enjoy the sensation of the blade grooming their skin. For many, this treatment may be more comfortable than microdermabrasion.
Very little recovery is involved with this treatment. The most important thing to do is keep your skin clean so there is no build-up of oils in the pores where vellus hair was growing. It is also important to apply sunscreen. Your skin will be more refined, smooth and have a “glowing” appearance.
